Karoliina Hellberg takes part at Elizabeth Xi Bauer Gallery in London, in a group exhibition The Cholmondeley Ladies, running until 16 February 2022.
The Cholmondeley Ladies borrows its title from one of Britain’s most famous paintings – although its author remains a mystery – depicting two nearly-identical twins holding equally-alike babies. This notion of repetition acts as a guiding principle to the show. Hellberg exhibits works that, though essentially individual pieces, communicate through the repetition of hues and signs, blending notions of foreground and background in her signature fantastic-realist style.
