SALLA TYKKÄ (b. 1973, Helsinki) is an artist, filmmaker and photographer who addresses issues of power, control and memory. Her body of work within the moving image applies the narrative means of both fiction and documentary film. By alternating both distancing and immersive elements of imagery and sound, Tykkä succeeds in entwining collective and personal dimensions in her works, which are characterized by powerful visual narrative and a strong balance of form and content.
